WF-AID, through our partners in Uganda, have funded a Goat Rearing project, which aims to eradicate poverty amongst vulnerable families in rural areas of Butebo District for sustainable development. WF-AID have covered the full costs of the project, totalling $2,700.
50 goats were bought and distributed to 50 families; 20 of these were widows and 30 were poor women. The women will take on the goat rearing project as their main source of income for themselves and their families, and will breed the goats to expand the scheme and their income.
One of the beneficiaries, Khadija*, is a mother of five and said that before she became part of this project, he had no idea how she would be able to support her three daughters and two sons. She expressed her deepest gratitude to WF-AID and all of the donors who have helped make this possible. She said she plans to care for her goat and breed it so that by the end of 2020, she will have three goats.
Your support towards our Microfinance projects helps people like Khadija, who have no other way of making a living, leaving them to rely on short term aid to get by every month. This type of sustainable support means that Khadija and her family have an asset, which will bring them income every month for the long term.
You can contribute to such projects by donating to our Microfinance fund, which helps people such as Khadija throughout the year and around the world.
