The water crisis in Africa and Lebanon are a pressing humanitarian outcry that demand immediate attention. In many regions in Africa, access to clean and safe drinking water remains a daily struggle, affecting the health and well-being of countless communities.

Similarly, in Lebanon, a country facing economic challenges, the water infrastructure has been strained, leaving many without reliable access to this essential resource. Water projects in these areas are not just about quenching thirst; they are lifelines that unlock education, employment, and improved health.

In Kenya, the Solar Powered Desalination Plant Water Project stands as a beacon of hope, set to benefit a daily population ranging from 1,200 to 1,600 individuals. The project’s overarching objective is to ensure access to safe drinking water for the community by implementing a solar-powered saline water desalination plant. In response to the challenges posed by high salinity and chemical contamination, a sophisticated reverse osmosis system will be deployed to purify the water source.

With a capacity to produce 2,000 litres per hour, this innovative solution is poised to efficiently meet the daily water requirements of the community, promising a brighter and healthier future.

In Mozambique, the Sustainable Well Repair Project takes on the vital task of revitalizing 5 deteriorated wells, with each well serving as a lifeline for 600 beneficiaries. The core objective is to conduct essential repairs on these existing wells, ensuring their restoration to full functionality. By doing so, this project brings about the immediate and enduring benefit of making clean and safe drinking water readily available to the communities it serves.

Thanks to the generous contributions, the following projects have been initiated by our ground partners.

With unwavering commitment from the Imam Hasan Foundation, Australia, WF-AID is spearheading the construction of an Artesian Well, a lifeline for Ayta Shaab village, Bint-Jbiel district, South Lebanon, serving an impactful 3,200 individuals. This endeavor is nothing short of transformational, poised to elevate socio-economic conditions and the overall quality of life for the local population.

Imam Hasan Foundation, Australia, generously funded this project. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to them for their dedicated support and commitment to this endeavor. The well stands as an indispensable pillar, meeting the fundamental need for clean water in their daily routines and bolstering their primary livelihood source, agriculture. This monumental undertaking not only ensures access to purer water but also holds the promise of a brighter and more prosperous future for these communities.

The Chanika Ward Water Project, in Tanzania, is a visionary initiative set to benefit a remarkable 18,000 individuals daily. This project’s core objective is the drilling of three borewells, accompanied by the installation of five water towers, each boasting a 5,000-litre storage capacity, and the establishment of ten delivery points. Through these concerted efforts, the project seeks to ensure consistent access to clean water for not only the local residents across four villages but also for the students of five primary schools and worshippers at nine mosques in the region.

Thanks to a generous donation, this project is now in progress. The three borewells alone have the capacity to produce a minimum of 60,000 litres of water daily, a testament to the transformative impact this endeavor promises to deliver.

The Maramba Project, generously funded by Stanmore Jafferys Sportive Initiative, will achieve significant milestones in enhancing local access to clean water. Through the drilling of five bore wells, each averaging a depth of 100-120 metres, and the installation of 5,000-litre storage tanks mounted on towers, the project will create a sustainable water supply network.

This network will extend its reach to seven schools, seven mosques, and three medical centres, thereby directly benefiting approximately 18,000 individuals daily. The Maramba Project stands as a testament to the positive impact that strategic water infrastructure development can have on communities, promoting better health and well-being for all.

During the Ali Asghar Water Appeal of 2023, WF-AID introduced Water Projects in Uganda, a significant endeavor made possible by the remarkable generosity of our donors.

One such project, the Deep Water Well Project, has had a profound impact on the communities it serves. By providing safe and clean water sources, this initiative has reduced the risk of waterborne diseases, which is prevalent due to the consumption of contaminated water. The project will benefit 4,500 individuals, it embodies the transformative power of accessible, clean water.

Additionally, the Borehole Maintenance Project in Uganda has not only ensured the efficient flow of water but has also resolved the longstanding issue of stagnant water, eliminating potential breeding grounds for disease-carrying mosquitoes. With precision and strategic planning, this project has positively impacted the lives of 1,200 individuals.

Both of these projects, made possible by the unwavering support of our donors, represent our commitment to creating healthier and more sustainable communities. Together, we are making a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most.
