A’adhamalahu ujurana wa ujurakum bi musaabina bi Aba Abdillahil Husayn (a).
As we approach the ultimate sacrifice on Ashura, our hearts are heavy with the memories of Karbala, where love and sacrifice stood firm in the face of adversity. Today, we unite for a noble cause – the Ali Asghar Water Appeal – a mission to alleviate the suffering of millions affected by the dire scarcity of water in our world.
In this moment of reflection, we recall the valorous Hadhrat Abbas (a), the epitome of loyalty and bravery, who sacrificed his life to quench the thirst of innocent children in Karbala. Let us not forget that the echoes of “Al Atash! Al Atash!” still resonate as innocent children around the world continue to suffer due to the lack of clean and safe water.
As we strive to emulate the spirit of Hadhrat Abbas (a), we must confront the harsh reality that millions of people lack access to safe drinking water. This scarcity undermines health, hinders economic progress, and burdens women and girls who walk miles in search of this basic human right.
But hope prevails. With the Ali Asghar Water Appeal, we are determined to bring change to water-scarce communities. Together, we have made strides in Lebanon, India, Pakistan, Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya and Gaza, providing water to tens of thousands of people. Yet, our work is far from done.
We must remember that these projects are not mere wells and pipelines; they are lifelines for those in need. They symbolize compassion and love for humanity, mirroring the teachings of Karbala. Our collective efforts have the power to transform lives and uplift communities, just as Imam Husayn (a) and his devoted companions did centuries ago.
