As Lebanon faces a deepening humanitarian crisis, WF-AID is intensifying its efforts with the launch of Phase 2 of its Emergency Relief Program. This phase aims to provide 100 prefabricated homes to displaced families, offering a safe and secure refuge during the ongoing war.
The opportunity for providing secure homes to affected families in Lebanon has never been greater than now. Over 1 million people have been displaced due to persistent hostilities on civilian territories, instability and economic collapse. Families are enduring overcrowded shelters or makeshift housing, leaving them vulnerable to freezing temperatures and increasing hardship. The provision of prefabricated homes offers an immediate, life-changing solution to these pressing needs.
Why Prefabricated Homes?
– Cost-Effectiveness: Streamlined production minimises waste and labour costs.
– Durability and Quality: Constructed with advanced technology and high-quality materials, they provide secure, long-term shelter.
– Flexibility in Design: Homes can be tailored to specific needs of the displaced.
Each prefabricated home includes two bedrooms, a kitchen, and a bathroom, ensuring essential living facilities for displaced families. At just USD $10,000*, this will enable WF-AID to cover the construction and transportation costs of each home, providing a durable sanctuary that shields families from harsh conditions while offering comfort and dignity. These homes are cost-effective and necessary to meet the unique needs of displaced families, delivering not just shelter but a lifeline for hope.
*Price could vary between USD $10,000 and $12,000
The Supply Route
To ensure timely and effective delivery, WF-AID has partnered with local and international logistics providers. Prefabricated home materials will be sourced from certified manufacturers in the region, shipped to Lebanon via sea freight, and transported to designated distribution hubs. From there, homes are installed on pre-identified sites in collaboration with local partners.
Case Study – Earthquake Response in Turkey 2023
WF-AID has successfully provided shelter in emergency responses of the past. Following the Earthquake in Turkey on 22nd February 2023, WF-AID responded swiftly to provide much needed shelter to displaced families in the affected region of Hatay. Each container was equipped with heating and water, ensuring families had access to warmth and necessities.
With the help of our donors, we were able to provide 28 homes to a total of 140 beneficiaries, providing much needed shelter to those who had lost the homes in the disastrous event.
