Monduli District is predominantly inhabited by the Maasai tribes, whose socio-economic progress has been hindered by their traditional way of life. Many of their children do not have access to the educational opportunities provided by the government. Instead, they receive training from their elders in cattle herding, a practice that often forces them to travel long distances to find grazing areas and water sources, sometimes as far as Handeni and Kondoa Districts.
WF-AID extends its heartfelt gratitude to Mohsin and Fauzia Jaffer Foundation for their generous donation of $50,000, which has had a profound impact on the lives of the people in Monduli. The acquisition of the water truck has proven to be immensely beneficial. The mobile water tanker is currently distributing water in the following manner:
The reach of this water truck is extensive, covering significant distances to address water needs in the region:
- Monduli, 41 kilometers away
- Alkaria, 55 kilometers away
- Nanja, 60 kilometers away
- Makiba, 60 kilometers away
- Ngarrain, 120 kilometers away
This initiative has a far-reaching impact, benefiting a large number of people in Monduli District.
PROJECT IMPACT
In Tanzania, 16 million people lacks access to safe water, and 44 million people lack safely managed household sanitation. These challenges disproportionately affect those in poverty, particularly women and girls who often travel long distances to collect water. Access to safe water at home is critical. The water truck acquisition significantly helps, benefiting thousands, particularly women and children.

Water truck launch.
We are delighted to report the significant positive impact generated by the recent acquisition of a new water truck. This project has been a blessing for many, as it involves the regular supply of clean water to MitMoja School and five surrounding villages.
By ensuring a consistent water supply, this project has also led to economic benefits. Families and individuals in the region can redirect the time previously spent on fetching water towards more productive activities, contributing to the overall socio-economic development of the community.
The improved access to clean water has a direct positive impact on education. Children, especially girls, who previously spent significant time fetching water can now allocate more time for schooling, contributing to increased school attendance and better educational outcomes.

SUMMARY
WF-AID extends its heartfelt gratitude for your generous contribution of $50,000 towards the construction and deployment of a mobile water distribution tanker. This tanker is currently providing 10,000 liters of clean and fresh water daily to the Monduli District, positively impacting the lives of approximately 30,000 individuals, including students and staff at a nearby school.
This initiative has significantly reduced the burden of long-distance water retrieval for local families, offering them a dependable source of fresh and potable water. The distribution process is managed by a dedicated team of community volunteers who ensure its sustained impact.
We are pleased to inform you that another one of our affiliated organizations has assumed the responsibility for the ongoing operation and maintenance of this vital project, ensuring its continued benefit to the Monduli District community.
