Through our partners around the world, we are trying to build Brighter Futures for children who have been deprived of the opportunity to go to school and learn.
One of the girls we are supporting is 14 year old Kaweria*, who lives in Kenya. She comes from an impoverished family, whose only income is through a small piece of farming land, which doesn’t yield enough to make ends meet. Kaweria has to wear old plastic slippers, which break as she walks. She often has to go to school on an empty stomach, as her family can’t afford enough food.
Fortunately, WF-AID have been providing hot and nutritious cups of porridge to school children in Kenya for over five years, meaning Kaweria will be guaranteed at least one hot meal a day. Her teachers have noticed that she is much more active and energised as a result of these nutritious meals, which also makes the children attend school more regularly. Her teachers have described her as ‘an obedient and a hardworking child’, who has ‘started being participative during class ‘sessions’. Regular attendance, improved focus in lessons, and more energy means she’s happier, learning more and has a much better chance of a brighter future.
Kaweria is just one of hundreds of children we have been supporting over the years. Unfortunately, she is also one of millions who are in need of your help.
Donate to our Brighter Futures appeal today to help children like Kaweria.
