Ali Asghar Water Appeal

In the memory of Hadhrat Ali Asghar (a), the youngest martyr of Karbala, the Ali Asghar Water Appeal is an annual flagship campaign of WF-AID dedicated to providing clean and safe water to communities in dire need.

Every drop of water is a blessing. Yet 2.2 billion people still lack access to safe drinking water. Contaminated water causes around 485,000 diarrhoeal deaths annually, while poor water, sanitation and hygiene lead to 829,000 deaths each year, more than malaria and tuberculosis combined. Women and girls spend over 200 million hours every day walking long distances to collect often unsafe water. [WHO, NLoM & UNICEF]

Running through Muharram and Safar each year, AAWA supports wells, boreholes, filtration systems, water trucking and WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) facilities across some of the world’s most water-insecure regions.

And We made from water every living thing.”

– Surah Al-Anbiya, 21:30
