According to UNICEF estimates, over 900,000 children in Kenya require humanitarian assistance due to prolonged drought, while in Tanzania, USAID’s health survey shows that 3.3 million children under the age of 5 are affected by chronic malnutrition. These children in both countries face challenges such as child mortality, undernourishment, and stunted growth.
WF-AID’s Brighter Futures initiative includes the Fill My Cup Appeal, which provides nutritious school meals to 1,228 pupils in 23 nurseries and educational centres in Tanzania and daily meals to 3,656 indigent students from 15 centres in Kenya. This program has helped reduce the number of children missing out on education by providing meals – incentivising impoverished parents to enrol their children in school.
The Mohsin and Fauzia Jaffer Foundation has kindly been sponsoring daily school meals to 728 nursery students across Tanzania since 2021. However, 500 students in Tanzania and 3,656 students in Kenya are still in need of your generous support.
