Thanks to your donations, WF-AID has been able to provide vocational sewing machine training and equipment to 60 women in Pakistan, all of whom can now earn their own living using their new skills.
As part of our aim to lift families out of poverty, we provide microfinance loans to help individuals and families with the financial support and resources they need to improve their standard of living and economic self-sufficiency. Funds from WF-AID are used to either start a small business or expand an existing one.
The aim of this project was to establish two vocational centres with the latest sewing and knitting machines located in Skardu, Pakistan. Each centre has 15 sewing machines, each of which comes with complete accessories.
As part of the project, vocational training was provided to 60 women (30 in each centre) where they learnt stitching to an industrial level. After the women had completed four months of training, the centres had an agreement with the local garment market to produce items for them to sell at the market, giving the women an income and also providing the centre with funds to keep the initiative running and allowing them to train more women.
