Heavy monsoon rainfall has caused flooding across Pakistan over the last few weeks. As of 8th September 2020, over 200 people have lost their lives and many more have had their homes completely destroyed.
The people of Pakistan have been experiencing monsoon rains for the past few weeks and the fresh spell of rainfall has caused further damage to the lives and homes of families in the area. The rain, which has led to landslides and road blockages, has caused the Chief Minister to declare an emergency after 20 districts were declared as ‘calamity damaged’.
We have been working with our regional federation, Pakistan Federation, to assess the needs on the ground. Many of our community members have had their homes damaged due to the floods, leaving them needing urgent repair work. Some have been destroyed completely and are inhabitable, and many have been waterlogged causing the foundations to sway making them extremely dangerous. Pakistan Federation has identified 80 families most in need of our support across seven districts to reconstruct and repair their homes to make them habitable and prevent further damage.
Our community is calling on us to help them through these times. Donate today to help reconstruct their homes and rebuild their lives.
We are also working to provide immediate relief in the form of emergency packs, to provide families with essential items and food as they work on getting their lives back on track. These packs contain quilts, mosquito nets, sugar, bugger, dried beans, tea, and milk powder.
