At WF-AID, we want to make a long-lasting change in the lives of the people we help. We aim to run sustainable projects, which can make people self-sufficient, changing not only their own lives but the lives of generations to come.
One such project is our self-employment project in Pakistan. Through our local partners, we have identified ten families in the Districts: Mianwali, D.I.Khan, and Muzaffar Garh in Pakistan who needed support to start their own businesses and become self-employed and self-reliant. The ten businesses your donations have helped build include: Booksellers, pottery shops, goat farms, and vegetable stalls.
The vegetable stall belongs to Abbas*, who has been working since he was very young. After his father passed away, Abbas stopped going to school and began working as a labourer so he could support his mother and sisters. He took on the responsibility of supporting his family in his father’s absence. Now, he is still quite young and is earning a living by selling vegetables every day. Unfortunately, although he works hard, he doesn’t earn very much. He used the loan you helped provide to buy more stock so he could sell more, and so he’d have enough stock to sell for longer throughout the day. He takes a big quantity of vegetables to the other side of the river then comes back and sells vegetables in his village. He and his family are so grateful for the support you’ve given and send their prayers for all those who have helped them.
