In October 2022, WF-AID marked a historic event, of helping the underprivileged whilst peaking Mount Kilimanjaro.
Climbers signed up to this unique challenge during its launch in March 2022, to raise money for WF-AID projects that assist those most in need. They spent weeks preparing and fundraising before setting off on their mission to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, the highest mountain in Africa.
After long bouts of training, these determined individuals went through multiple eco systems, including the Cultivation Zone, Forest Zone, Heather-Moorland Zone, Alpine Desert Zone, and Arctic Summit climate zones, during the five days it took them to reach the summit where they were rewarded with a breathtaking view of the snow-capped mountain.
The icing on the cake was reaping the fruits of their harvest as they had the opportunity to visit some of our beneficiaries at Kijana Kwanza and the Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania where they spent time with the youth and interacted with them first-hand.
On behalf of everyone at WF-AID, we congratulate and appreciate each and every climber for their selflessness in embarking upon this noble journey.
Together the climbers raised £18,747 via various fundraisers they held for this expedition. All funds will be distributed to WF-AID projects, namely – Temeke Eye Clinic – Dar es Salaam, Kijana Kwanza – Tanzania and Sufra – UK.

With first-hand experience under our belt, we are ready to re-launch the challenge for next year!
This may be the most difficult challenge you undertake, especially when you are living above the clouds, yet anyone can ascend Africa’s highest peak with the correct mindset and supportive friends and family.
