Although poverty has no religion, religion can inspire its believers to end poverty. Throughout the holy month of Ramadhan, many Muslims are unable to fast because of malnutrition and extreme poverty.

In 2022, WF-AID distributed a staggering 15 million meals. We provided 55,866 food packs, reached 775,112 Individuals, and served 1,189 community Iftars to keep our Muslim brothers and sisters well-nutritioned during the whole Holy Month.

This year, WF-AID will set up great efforts with our ground partners, to ensure that disadvantaged Muslims in Pakistan, India, Africa, the Caribbean, the Middle East, and the rest of Asia can complete their fast without difficulty. Share Your Barakah this year through WF-AID’s Ramadhan Relief Fund so we can collectively provide help to others.

How will your GENEROSITY help communities across the globe?

The pandemic and inflation have made life difficult for millions of families worldwide, with insufficient local NGO assistance for the most vulnerable who are struggling with increased living costs and food shortages. To help, WF-AID will provide $60 food packages with rice, flour, oil, sugar, lentils, tomato puree, and dates for breaking the fast during the holy month, and monetary gifts for children in Tanzania, Kenya, and other African areas.

In Cox’s Bazar, over 943,529 Rohingya refugees and impoverished Bangladeshis lack housing, food, and healthcare. To help, WF-AID will provide food packs containing rice, pulses, oil, sugar, and salt for 7-8 people for 25-30 days. Community Iftar meals, including khichdi, chicken, eggs, fruit juice, and water, will also be served to aid fasting during the holy month.

Through these efforts, WF-AID aims to support the Rohingya refugees and impoverished Bangladeshis in Cox’s Bazar and help improve their quality of life during this challenging time

Islam and Muslim communities have a long history in the Caribbean, with over half a million Muslims living in the region today. WF-AID aims to support the Khoja Muslim community in Grenada by providing food packs containing rice, sugar, flour, lentils, dates, oil, tomato puree, vermicelli, beans, salt, and tea during the holy month to make fasting easier for families.

Muslims in India, who make up 14.2% of the population, face discrimination and many Shi’a Muslims, including Khojas, suffer from poverty during Ramadhan. To support them, WF-AID aims to distribute food packs and cash gifts to 60,000+ beneficiaries. The food packs contain essential groceries like rice, wheat, sugar, and oil to help families cook nutritious meals and fast comfortably throughout the month

The Middle East is facing war, famine, and economic crises. Lebanon’s currency devaluation has caused high inflation, especially affecting the poor and vulnerable, with food inflation reaching 332%.

WF-AID will provide aid to war-torn areas like Yemen and Gaza, and support orphans in Iraq with food packs and cash gift vouchers. A typical food pack costs $60 and includes essential items such as rice, flour, sugar, tea, oil, lentils, tomato puree, salt, and dates.

Pakistan is in urgent need of assistance following severe flooding which has damaged crops and led to the loss of over a million livestock, leaving over 200,000 Muslims struggling. WF-AID will provide food packs containing essential items such as flour, cooking oil, pulses, and rice to support families during the holy month of Ramadhan. In addition, daily community Iftar and Suhoor meals will be served to provide impoverished Muslim communities with nutritious meals after fasting all day.

To support impoverished Muslim communities, WF-AID will extend its reach to Nepali Shi’a refugees and Shi’a Muslims in the Philippines. The majority of Nepali Shi’a live in poverty, while Filipino Muslims have experienced great difficulty due to natural disasters. Food packs consisting of essential items such as rice, lentils, oil, sugar, and chicken will be distributed to help sustain these communities throughout the holy month
